There are a lot of
great options to choose from when picking a smartphone in India, spread across
the price, feature, and specification spectrum. While some popular flagships
fall at the upper end of the price range, there are quite a few alternatives
available with premium features and considerably lower prices. Here are some of
the best phones under 30,000 rupees in India!
Editor’s Note: We will
continue to update this list as more phones under 30,000 rupees are released in
India.
1. Xiaomi Redmi K20 Pro
Xiaomi drags its
popular Redmi range of smartphones into high-end territory with the Redmi K20
Pro. The latest and greatest processing package, a beautiful all-screen front,
a pop-up selfie camera, triple rear cameras, and an under-display fingerprint
scanner ensures that the K20 Pro checks all the 2019 flagship boxes. It’s no
surprise that the Xiaomi Redmi K20 Pro is one of the best phones you can get in
India.
What is incredibly
surprising is that it’s one of the best phones under 30,000 rupees in India.
The Redmi series is known for aggressive pricing, but this takes things to a
whole other level. Even the highest-end model of the K20 Pro is just above
30,000 rupees. If you’re looking for bang for your buck, it doesn’t get any
better than the Xiaomi Redmi K20 Pro.

2. Samsung Galaxy A70s
Samsung continues its
hot streak in the budget-friendly segments in India. Between the Galaxy M and
the Galaxy A series, Samsung has covered the entire price spectrum of affordable
devices from the entry-level to the mid-range. The Samsung Galaxy A70 led the
charge in the premium mid-range category, but is being replaced on this list
with an iterative update in the Samsung Galaxy A70s.
The upgrade is as
iterative as they come. In fact, hardly anything is different between the two,
with the only exceptions being the camera and RAM. The primary shooter of the
Galaxy A70s is a 64MP unit, compared to the 32MP camera of the A70. The A70s
also includes an 8GB of RAM version. Everything else, from the processor to the
battery, remains the same.
If you’re okay with
the still-excellent cameras of the Galaxy A70, you can certainly save a couple
of thousand rupees by buying it.

3. Xiaomi Redmi K20
The Redmi K20 Pro is
grabbing all the headlines, but its less-powerful sibling, the Redmi K20, is
equally deserving of its place on this list. In fact, the Redmi K20 is far more
in line with the other phones on this list, compared to the anomaly that is the
Pro edition.
You get a premium
mid-range processing package here. The good news though is that not much else
changes. The gorgeous design, the pop-up camera, and the under-display
fingerprint scanner all remain. The K20 also comes with a 48MP primary rear
camera, albeit with a different sensor. If you’re okay with a little less
power, the Redmi K20 lets you save a decent chunk of money.

4-5. Oppo Reno 2 Z and Reno 2 F
Oppo introduced two
new additions to the 2nd generation of its flagship Reno smartphones. Apart
from the high-end Reno 2, you now have the mid-range Reno 2 Z and the slightly
lower-tier Reno 2 F, with the 2 Z the better of the two.
Unfortunately, Oppo
goes back to a “standard” pop-up camera with the 2 Z, so you don’t get to enjoy
the unique shark-fin popup here. That said, the front-facing shooter remains as
capable across the board, and so is the excellent quad cameras on the back. Of
course, the phone also hits Oppo’s other highlights apart from the camera.
Solid performance, a beautiful design, and a good battery life round out one of
the best phones you can get for under 30,000 rupees.
If you’re looking for
different colorways or want to save a buck, the Oppo Reno 2 F is also an
option. Important features like the display, battery, and cameras remain the
same. However, you do get a slower, but still capable, processor and half the
built-in storage. The Reno 2 F is 4,000 rupees cheaper than the 2 Z though.

6. Vivo V17 Pro
Vivo and Oppo were the
first companies to introduce the concept of a pop-up camera, so it’s no
surprise that it’s these two that continue to innovate and experiment in this
regard. You get the unique shark-fin design with Oppo, and Vivo has two
front-facing cameras housed in the pop-up with the V17 Pro.
Of course, the Vivo
V17 Pro hits all the other premium mid-range highlights too. A solid mid-range
processor, more than enough RAM and storage, a decent battery with
fast-charging capabilities, and four cameras on the back. It may seem a touch
expensive, but that’s only because some of the competition keeps pushing the
boundaries of price vs features. The V17 Pro is a good option with a unique
feature that makes it quite compelling.

7. Samsung Galaxy A50s
Samsung’s six-month
refresh of its popular A-series smartphones continues with the Galaxy A50s. As
is the case with the Galaxy A70s above, the A50s isn’t a huge upgrade over its
namesake, with the only real bump seen in the camera department.
There’s a token update
to the processor and the lower 64GB storage variant has been taken out of the
mix. Samsung has upgraded the 25MP primary camera of the A50 to a 48MP shooter,
while the rest of the triple rear camera setup is unchanged. The front-facing
shooter also gets a bump from 25MP to a 32MP unit. The Galaxy A50s falls at the
lower end of the 20,000 to 30,000 price range, and is quite an attractive
option with its improved cameras.
