Since WWDC back in June we've been testing the IOS 13 developer beta built on our iPhones here and the experience has actually been an enjoyable one as we got to see all of the new features and changes found within this new version of iOS but also experience very little bugs along that process but now the Apple has, in fact, released their final GM build of iOS 13 it's time to take a final look at this build and kind of give a full review on iOS 13.

| iOS 13-Review 2020 | Buying Guidelines |
So let's go ahead and get started before we get started on our blog today let's go ahead. Now this review is for older devices that are supported by iOS 13 that meaning not covering the newest iPhone lineup that Apple has just announced we'll be doing a follow up review with those devices in a couple of weeks running iOS 13 but for those of you wanting kind of a overall review of iOS 13 specific to older or previous generation devices this blog is for you now in this blog we'll be talking a lot about the new features and changes that have been brought to iOS 13 versus iOS 12 we'll be talking a little bit about performance numbers and how we have seen some improvement there and then we'll be talking about battery life which is one of the most important topics when it comes to an iOS update after that will kind of give our final opinion but let's go ahead and get started with the new features and changes kind of highlighting a few of the best that we seen here in iOS 13 now your first experience will actually be a new setup process for when you update to iOS 13 so this is what it will look like it's quite similar to what we were seeing in previous versions of iOS 12 but there are just a few subtle differences here and there in the setup process now of course this process will of course vary between different devices out there and their various features but this is just a general gist of how the setup process will look now let's get into some of the highlights of the new features and changes that have been brought to iOS 13.
iOS 13 - Dark Mode Features
The first has to be dark mode dark mode has been kind of requested by a lot of you guys for years and even myself and finally it's here within iOS 13 now dark mode is absolutely fantastic on iOS 13 the UI experience is so spectacular I think Apple did a fantastic job creating this very personalized experience with dark mode on iOS 13 now there's two different ways you can go ahead and access dark mode on iOS 13 if you go into the Settings app and then go down to display and brightness you can see that you have two different options between light and dark mode and you have a little bit of a preview now if you go ahead and select the automatic switch there you could add mahat actually have the option to switch automatically sunset to sunrise or you can actually go ahead and create your custom set schedule on when dark mode and light mode will activate accordingly now you also have the second and third option of going into the control center you can go into the brightness slider and control the toggle for light and dark mode there now Apple wanted to really give you access to light and dark mode completely so they have actually added a separate toggle within the control center where you can go ahead and toggle light and dark mode there as well it's it's own separate toggle so there's actually three different ways you can activate light and dark mode and I think it's really easy to kind of get to all these places and it's really easy to go ahead and switch between the light dark themes this looks absolutely amazing let me know what your thoughts are in the comment section down below do you like dark boat do not like it and maybe when will you be using it throughout the day.
iOS 13 - Themes and Wallpapers
Now the second new feature that I really love is the new wallpapers specific to iOS 13 and if you update to iOS 13 you will be getting light and dark themes of these wallpapers they look absolutely stunning so go ahead and check out all of the new wallpapers that Apple has added within iOS 13 they're still images look absolutely amazing there's a lot of different color options and I personally love these kind of standard orange one but they do look very different in the dark theme and I think that is what really makes these special is they're kind of dynamic wallpapers and what we've been seeing on Mac OS Mojave and those dynamic wallpapers that we've been seeing in the past now next up is the kind of my app Find My iPhone has in fact turned into find my and we have a totally different UI experience here with the find my app and it looks absolutely amazing there's a lot of new features with the find my app and hopefully in the near future we'll be getting that little tile device the Apple has been rumored to be working on and that will work with the find my app as well hopefully so that you can find your keys that may be lost in a very hidden area now more on the find my app you can see that we have a different UI experience here and the find my friends has been integrated into the find my app as well so find my friends we'll be working through the find my app and you can go ahead share your location and view other people's location through this app as well and that will also be integrated with the Maps app hopefully later this year.
iOS 13 - Apple Arcade (A New Feature)
Now the last major new feature is apple arcade apple has announced will cost only $4.99 for a family plan so anyone using that family plan can access over 800 games that are exclusive to Apple arcade they're not available on Android or any other devices they will be specific to Apple arcade and you can go ahead and play those games for just $4.99 per month now apple arcade will be available next week at the time of shooting this blog so definitely we will have very specific content to apple arcade featuring all of the games that you can find there and we'll kind of showcase that at a later time so stay tuned for more news on that but Apple arcade is a huge addition to iOS 13 and I think a lot of you guys will definitely enjoy all the fun little games that Apple have been creating for Apple arcade and I think that's a fantastic subscription service coming to iOS 13.
iOS 13 - UI Experience.
Now let's switch over to the UI experience of iOS 13 and kind of dive into the UI experience and showcase a little bit more of the new kind of changes that have been brought to that UI experience now the first thing is something that I really love and that is the 3d touch expandable menus on the home page so if you go and 3d touch or force 3d touch any of the apps on your home screen they will kind of present a different style menu and present you with more options specific to different apps so I think this is a fantastic addition to iOS 13 it looks a lot different than what we were seeing in previous versions of iOS 12 and I personally love this new look let me know your thoughts in the comment section down below do you like this new look for these expanded menus on the home screen.
iOS 13 - Expanded Menus and Features
Now speaking of expanded menus and this is a major one because I've been asking for this for years and it's finally come if you go into the control center and then onto the Wi-Fi bluetooth the basically connections menu you'll see that the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth menus do expand and so do the airdrop menu as well so if you go into the Wi-Fi menu you can now switch different to different wi-fi's just through that menu you don't have to go to the Settings app and then onto the Wi-Fi menu itself you can do this all through the control center and what's better is you can actually go into the Wi-Fi or bluetooth and you through the settings app through the control center so you don't actually have to go out of that and then open up the Settings app it's just all one simple process right there in the control center and I am so thankful to apples added this it's actually taken a lot of hassle out of switching to different Wi-Fi Bluetooth and all of that so that's a fantastic addition to iOS 13 here in regards to the UI experience.
iOS 13 - Noise-Cancellation and Bluetooth Headphones
Another little change that has been brought to iOS 13 is something that not a lot of people have noticed yet but it's actually the toggle for noise cancellation if you have noise-canceling headphones like maybe Bluetooth headphones from beats the studio three wireless headphones those have noise-canceling technology you can actually toggle noise cancellation via the control center on the volume slider so if you expand that menu you can turn noise cancellation on or off I think this is a fantastic addition to iOS 13 and hopefully Apple expands that functionality to Bose and Sony products and other products that have noise-canceling features because that would be an absolutely amazing experience for users who have those headphones.
iOS 13 - Maps App
Now the last thing we'll talk about is in the Maps app has been revamped and everything that looks a lot better there's a lot more detail in the Maps app and this is something that Apple has continuously been working on you know steadily throughout the years and I personally believe that navigation is just a little bit better I feel like navigation is just smoother there's a lot better updates going throughout the navigation process and I actually have really been enjoying it now another solid thing that has been added to the maps app is look around you might have gotten a preview at WWDC this year basically look around is like Google Street View so look around will give you the option to look around street views and see what's there but Apple is adding a different twist to it basically in the future with the Maps app you can go ahead and get the look-around view and they get specific directions in that look around view so you can actually have live directions when driving walking or maybe even biking as well what's really cool is we are expected to see this kind of being added into carplay as well so hopefully we'll be seeing it there in the near future but there's some fantastic things happening with I was 13 and more specifically the Maps app that you will not want to miss hopefully we'll be getting some more of those advanced features in iOS 13.1 or iOS 13.2 with which are both expected to be released later this year now we're gonna kind of end on that note those are definitely not all of the new features and changes we'll be having a blog on that later next week so definitely stay tuned for that.
iOS 13 - Performance
And now let's move on to performance numbers because that is a very important topic when it comes to iOS 13 and comparing it to iOS 12 now the first thing that you'll notice when updating to iOS 13 coming from iOS 12 is just the overall speed is just so much faster even on older devices as well so things like face ID touch ID will definitely be faster when updating to iOS 13 things like app loading speeds will be noticeably faster I've noticed that apps are loading so fast right now it's just absolutely insane and then also maneuvering throughout the UI as a whole is just a much faster experience so things like going in various apps like settings the control center going throughout your Notification Center just things are working a whole lot faster and there's definitely a noticeable improvement from iOS 12 now another thing that I did notice was better connections to Wi-Fi Bluetooth and LTE we've had a lot of Wi-Fi and Bluetooth issues within iOS 12 and those seem to be gone now with in iOS certein but what I did notice is specifically connecting to bluetooth products things are operating a lot faster so I'm connecting a lot faster maybe when I get in my car things are just loading just a little bit quicker with Bluetooth and I really really appreciate that now we also had a lot of issues with LTE in iOS 12 I think that was specific to kind of having a dual sim technology integrated into the newer iPhones and kind of pairing that with iOS 12 it just wasn't working and now with iOS 13 I have some technology on this phone and I actually am using dual SIM for both Verizon and gig sky and things are working very flawlessly I haven't really had any issues on iOS 13 and I'm very very shocked to see that speeds are very high but the connectivity is very high as well so a definite improvement from iOS 12 moving up to iOS 13 now I did mention that things were working just a lot faster but what I didn't mention is things are working very smoothly with iOS 12 we definitely saw a good performance versus iOS 11 but things were just a little bit choppy here and there but overall throughout the beta process we've had a few choppy moments here and there but now that we're on the GM version Apple has smooth everything out and you're getting a very fast experience but it's not choppy whatsoever there's no lags there's no stutters when going out throughout the UI and just everything has a very smooth feel to it like it should when going to a new version of iOS and specifically with all the new chips that are in these devices Apple is definitely taking advantage of those speeds and making a very very awesome experience with iOS 13 and kind of the overall smoothness and quickness of the UI experience.
iOS 13 - Battery
Now the last thing that I'll talk about will segue into our next topic and that is just that IOS 13 is more efficient I noticed that there's a lot better battery life when using iOS 13 and that is our next topic but things are definitely improving with the efficiency of iOS 13 so things are definitely moving a lot faster but the process is going through that a12 Bionic chip and really any chip that supports iOS 13 are just a lot smoother and a lot more efficient so if you upgrade you'll definitely notice better battery life with iOS 13 but you'll also notice that your phone may just not get as hot on the back or maybe it won't slow down maybe it'll just be a lot more efficient that is something I have noticed going throughout the beta process and now on the GM version of iOS 13 now let's move on to battery life and battery life will be a tricky topic for all of you who just upgrade and spend hours looking all the new features and changes that have been made in IOS 13 but during normal use the battery life is absolutely notice will be better typically battery life gets worse when updating to major iOS versions but here we're actually seeing the opposite effect a solid 8 percent increase in battery life across all devices updating from iOS twelve point four point one yes that is all devices not just the 2018 lineup so I think that's a definitely a major improvement over iOS 12 because I was 12 did it really give us the best battery life but IOS 13 is kind of giving us that battery life back and allowing us to enjoy all of the new features and changes that we're seeing with iOS 13 so guys overall I was 13 is absolutely a solid build and with all of the new features better performance numbers and battery life across all supported devices it's kind of hard to find a reason not to upgrade so if you're wondering should I update my iPhone to iOS 13 I definitely recommend it all I can see is a ton of benefits here for all the users who want a better experience on their I devices so guys that was our review on iOS 13 of course if you have any comments questions or anything like that definitely leave those in the comment section down below I'll be sure to get back to those as soon as possible and hopefully we'll have a good kind of running conversation down there on your experience on iOS 13.
