Realme has launched
another promising smartphone in the budget segment for 2020 the Realme C3 we're
gonna be comparing this phone with the Redmi Note 8 one of the best
entry-level smartphones for last years.
Without further ado here is our Comparison Review
Realme C3 vs
Redmi Note 8 Comparison Review – Designs, Looks, and Interface
Checking out aesthetics the Realme C3 features
a textured matte back design that gives a sunray like a pattern when exposed to
light at different angles what we really like about Realme C3 taking a
different approach to the conventional back designs of phones today and
although it is polycarbonate the Realme C3 does a good job at still giving it the
premium touch at the front we get a waterdrop style notch as well as some
bezels on the side with the top and chin being more prominent.
Were Redmi Note
8, on the other hand, has a more sleek design element a complete with a
plastic frame unlike the Realme C3 this device gets a front and back
glass design both protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5 and because of
this it does add some weight to it but in exchange for a more premium robust
feel compared to a lighter phone.
As for the front we
get a drop notch as well as a similar bezel layout as the Realme C3 but with
a slimmer chin the Realme C3 looks better if bold and bright is your
thing but the Redmi Note 8has a classier look to it that can be taken
seriously when needed it's also worth mentioning that the Realme C3 is
not a fingerprint magnet while the Note 8 is. But who isn't going to
slap on a case anyway we know it's a preference but for aesthetics, we're gonna go
with the Redmi Note 8.
Realme C3 vs
Redmi Note 8 Comparison Review - Physical Configuration
Looking at the physical configuration for both
these devices we can find the power button on the right-hand side of the Realme
C3 speaker grille micro USB charging port and a headphone jack at the
bottom along with the primary microphone nothing on top and on the Left we get
the SIM card tray and volume rocker. Looks like there's no notification light for this device as well so keep that in mind if you're used to phones that have one further.
Note 8 we get with the power and volume
rocker combo on the right side at the bottom we have the loudspeaker type C
charging port primary mic and headphone jack on the left the SIM card tray as
well, and on top, we get a noise-canceling mic and an IR blaster.
And unlike the Realme
C3, Note 8 has a white notification LED at the top left-hand side
of the screen so you know if you missed any calls or messages both phones have
a note we protruding camera bump but a jelly case can always fix that problem.
Now checking out the
ports of both devices they don't it gets a USB type-c port while the real me
see three still uses a micro USB port yeah sure it's an entry-level device so
maybe really wanted to cut back on the charger port but the Note 8 is an entry-level device as well still they were able to squeeze in some more
features in so that's something to think about.
Personally After
being exposed to type C for the last few years I don't think I'll be ever going
back to micro USB and I think that truth is the same for some of you guys as
well.
Realme C3 vs
Redmi Note 8 Comparison Review – Display
Next up checking out display the Realme C3 has a 6.5 inch IPS LCD display with a
resolution of 720x1600
While the Redmi Note
8 gets a smaller 6.3-inch display but unlike the Realme C3.
Note 8 as full HD panel with a resolution
with an 80x23 40, we mentioned this before but if you're used to phones with
720p displays then you might not be too bothered but if you are coming from
four with a full HD display I'm sure you'll notice a little bit of a difference
especially when reading text and looking at my new details so for display we're
giving this one-two there had been no date.
Realme C3 vs
Redmi Note 8 Comparison Review – Processors
Powering these bad boys
are two different processors, The Realme C3 is the world's first smartphone to be powered
by the Mediatek Helio G70 chipset.
While the Redmi Note 8 as a
more dated but still respectable Snapdragon 665 on paper the G70 beats
the Snapdragon 665 by far but in real-life performance, it's not that
large of a margin especially.
When comes to daily
tasks but where the Helio G70 outperforms is in its game optimization for
example the Realme C3 preset graphics on PUBG mobile were ultra-high which
really surprised us whereas the Note 8's graphics are preset the low
although in some games like Asphalt 9 and Call of Duty the Realme
C3 plays at medium graphics by default so there might still be some games
that require optimization. In any case, casual gaming is pretty both on either
device but we're giving this round to the Realme C3.
Realme C3 vs
Redmi Note 8 Comparison Review – Multitasking and Storage
For multitasking and storage, the Realme C3 is
currently available in three gigabytes of RAM coupled with 32 gigabytes of
internal storage.
While the Redmi Note 8 gives you a choice of 3
gigabytes of ram 4 gigabytes of ram and 6 gigabytes of ram with storage of 32
gigabytes 64 gigabytes and 128 gigabytes although as far as we know the 6
gigabytes of ram variants are not available in India.
Realme C3 vs
Redmi Note 8 Comparison Review - Softwares
Now moving on to software the Realme C3 the
all-new Realme UI 1.0 based on Android 10 out of the box.
While the Redmi Note
8 has UI 11 on top of Android 9 Pie UI has always been one of my personal
favorites because of its simplicity but I got to admit that we're also really
loving the new interface.
Unreal the UI on the Realme C3 animations are
also very minimal keeping the interface clean and snappy sure we do get some bloat
ware but that's not surprising to see any more nowadays.
Realme C3 vs
Redmi Note 8 Comparison Review - Navigations
When it comes to navigation we get the option for
gesture controls for both devices as well as your standard navigation buttons
at the bottom even if you like using third-party launchers that don't
discourage.
The fact that both the Realme C3 and Note 8 have some
pretty good default skins and even offered art mode but if you're into the
latest updates you might fancy the Realme C3 more but the Note 8
is just as good in our opinion you'll just have to wait a little bit longer for
Android 10.
Realme C3 vs
Redmi Note 8 Comparison Review - Camera
Now let's talk cameras the Realme C3 has a
triple camera set up it's got a 12-megapixel main shooter 2-megapixel macro and
2-megapixel depth.
While the Redmi Note 8 has a quad-camera set up with a
48-megapixel main sensor make megapixel ultra-wide and in 2-megapixel depth
sensor and a 2-megapixel macro lens.
Quickly comparing
them side by side the Realme C3 captures decent shots under ample
lighting conditions preparing the two the Redmi Note 8 is more detailed
and defined whether it's day or night we get better colors on the Note 8
compare to C3 and it's better at subject record separation in portrait mode
although we also get chroma boost on the Realme C3 which helps gives a
better color pop but they tend to over saturate in some scenarios having a
1080p display.
On the Note 8
also helps in making the images more crisp and clear especially when zooming
into photos in less favorable light conditions the Lummi Realme C3 performs
okay but compared the Redmi Note 8 photos come out less vivid and a little bit more flat if not struggling to capture accurate colors and
luminescence we noticed that the Note 8 scammer all stands to naturally
overexpose its images but you can always lower the exposure anyway.
The Realme C3 seems
to get colors a little bit more accurately depending on the lighting and
conditions unfortunately really UI stock camera app doesn't come up with a lot
of options compared to the Note 8 but macro panorama and pro mode are
present.
Note 8 the camera software, on the other hand, has night mode AI and a little bit more
flexibility when comes to tweaking camera settings so keep that in mind as well
in any case, the Realme C3 is still pretty good for well-lit places but
overall we're definitely gonna have to give this one to the Redmi Note 8.
When it comes to
video the Realme C3 can record 1080p at 30fps while the Note 8
can record 4k at 30fps and stun ATP up to 60fps keep in mind that playing or
recording 1080p videos on the Realme C3 will still be downscaled do 2 at 720p display
as for the front cameras, the Realme C3 has a 5-megapixel sensor while
the rabbinate 8 has a 13-megapixel sensor with the Realme C3 capable of recording 1080p at 30fps while the Note
8 can do 60 FPS.
The Realme C3 surprisingly captures pretty well during the day being able to distinguish little details like hair but can be inconsistent
especially in dark situations the Note 8 13 megapixel camera on the
other hand performs much better but still tends to be overexposed by default
but again you can always adjust left.
Realme C3 vs
Redmi Note 8 Comparison Review – Security Features
Moving on to security features both the Realme
C3 and Redmi Note 8 have rear-mounted fingerprint scanners which are
pretty responsive though I noticed that the safety register is slightly quicker
than the Note 8.
It's not really all that noticeable on a day to day basis
but apart from that both these devices have face unlock that too a pretty great the job of unlocking your phone.
Realme C3 vs
Redmi Note 8 Comparison Review - Battery
As well in terms of battery there, you see three
packs a 5000mAh capacity that surprisingly lasted up to 26
hours and our standard video loop test, on the other hand,
The Redmi Note 8
with its four thousand milliamp hour cell fell short lasting only a little more
then half the time the Realme C3 at 13 hours and 42 minutes the Realme C3 comes with a 10-watt charger.
While the Redmi
Note 8 gets 18-watt fast charging support both take around 2 hours to fully
charge clearly the Realme C3 outperforms the Note 8 and this one but
that's not to say that the Note 8can still power through a whole day and
moderate usage as long as you leave the house for the charged.
Realme C3 vs
Redmi Note 8 Comparison Review – Price
And when comes down to the price the Realme C3
has a compelling price point of Rs. 7999/- and it's available in blazing red or
frozen blue.
While there Redmi Note 8 ranges from Rs. 10499/- of the Rs.13999/-
depending on the variant you choose and it's available in Neptune blue moonlight white and space black.
So taking all things into consideration the Realme
C3 is undoubtedly a bang for your buck device for less than Rs. 9000/- and
there are not a lot of phones that perform really well at this price point so
if you really want the latest Android that larger battery and if you're in a
tight budget go for the Realme C3 but if you want those extra features
such as a 1080p display type C in an IR blaster, I suggest going for the Note
8.
