Ever since their launch, Intel has been trying quite hard to get the Ultrabooks into the major portable computer market but it hasn’t been that successful as it should have been. While the reasons can be plenty, a major concern is that its similar looks to the Macbook Air and just a different Operating System are not enough to get it into the centre of the computing.
Windows based, the Ultrabooks might see a revolutionary change as soon as Windows 8 gets launched. Fairly touch based, this OS can set the Ultrabook quite ahead than the other thin laptops. The Ultrabooks have seen quite a number of generations since their launch in the first quarter of 2011 that include including an optical drive and putting latest Sandy Bridge processors and giving a USB 3.0 interface, hence making it one of the most advanced laptop computers ever.
Asus, Acer were the first OEM of the Ultrabooks and were later on joined by Toshiba, Samsung and HP. Experts predict that the current year will be the year of the Ultrabooks and quite a number of OEM will be joining hands with the USB masters, Intel. The effect of the Ultrabooks is expected to be quite clear on the CES which is to be held at Las Vegas from January 10th to 13th where Asus Zenbook will be showcased and more untold launches will be made that will exclusively cover the Ultrabook concept.
It is, however, predicted that the Ultrabooks might have to deal with serious pricing issues and tough competition till they get loaded with Windows 8 and are one of the first ones to get that. Since Windows 8 will be quite touch sensitive and compliments tablets and net books quite much, a thin and fast computer like Ultrabook might attract a lot of customers and make it a strong brand among light computing.
The Ultrabooks are quite hell of power savers and are one of the few instant start computers in current world. They fall in a category between the laptops, net books and after Windows 8 is launched, tablets. Ultrabooks are quite powerful than the net books and the tablets as they house 2nd generation core i5 and i7 processors as well as higher configurations of SSD drives and RAM. Being lighter and thinner like 0.82 inch gives them a straight edge over the laptops too. However, a better pricing strategy will be needed to promote it on the whole global computer market. With the launch of Windows 8, the Ultrabooks are aimed to strike the eastern markets which readily accept the new and lighter computing options and long battery life is always encouraged.
Ultrabooks are also needed to pass the tests of high and heavy computing such as high definition visual and audio applications such as games so that they can challenge up the high priced gaming laptops. Also, loading them with HD camera should a prime motive for the OEMs as then they give a full package of high end computing at not so expensive price as the rival light weight computers are still quite expensive.
